Exhibit A

For everyone who's still clueless about wearing Black and Brown, when it's done right...almost any color combo matches and black & brown IS one of them. Here are my case closing arguments.

Brown , the distant cousin to Gold, looks fab with black when you have just the right mix and touch. See Anne Hathaway (left), Exhibit A. This sophisticated, yet casual look is great for hanging out with the girls, a day of intense shopping or just a stroll around in the village topped off with a quick caramel macchiato. Do not be fooled, as the evidence clearly shows, these colors do 100% complement each other. If somehow you still can not reach a unanimous decision in this case, I implore you, look deep into your closets, find complementary black and brown pieces and try it for yourself. I have no doubt you will do the right thing and walk proudly out of your front door with new found understanding.
P.S. Should you have any other fashion or color combo questions, I will be giving free consultations via this blog for a select few. Want your opportunity to have your style question answered? Send it in an email to me at stylemayvin@gmail.com and your question could be chosen as the next feature!

The NEW 4-Finger Ring

Alexander McQueen like many other designers, is taking us back to the 80's...and in a GREAT way if I might add.

This new take on the 4-Finger ring with Clutch combo is chic and rugged all at the same time. Makes you want to start a really "dainty fight" right? Maybe backstage at the American Music Awards? Just kidding...
You can pick this one up at Saks Fifth Ave for a mere $1895. No Kidding!

Frye Anyone?

Frye boots are my absolute favorite! Not only are they comfortable , the current styles are some of the most fashionable boots ever made.

The infamous motorcycle boot that so many people wore and loved in the 90's (and continue to wear now), literally comes from a family of footwear that's as old as the Civil War. Now, if the soldiers on both sides of that fight as well as the Rough Riders led by Teddy Roosevelt could wear Frye boots in battle, they MUST be extremely comfy. With such a rich, yet tragic history, the Frye boot lives on and now proclaims...I'm a lover, not a fighter!

The grey Frye Dorado Low Boot ($498) is available at www.piperlime.com along with many other great styles for the Fall/Winter season. Go on now...Get the boot!

Designer of the Month - Christopher Kane

Now that TOPSHOP has officially been in New York for about 6 months, we can all get the Brits' tough-chic, "mood" look.
I call this the "Don't mess with me dress". (substitute the word "mess" with whatever works for you). It looks kinda angry doesn't it? The cotton Croc Dress is available for $125...check it out in store or at http://www.topshop.com/

If you want to stand out...this designer does it best. It's like 3D in motion!

Bollywood Style

As of late, I have been completely intrigued by the hottest Bollywood couple, Aishwarya Rai & Abhishek Bachchan. (Americans...try saying their name 3 times fast!) Aside from being extremely easy on the eyes and quite fashionable, they have been dubbed "the world's most famous couple".

This couple is not the only hot topic in Bollywood which, by the way is "the informal term popularly used for the Hendi-language film industry based in Mumbai, India" (thanks Wikipedia). Lakme Fashion Week which took place in September celebrated it's 10th year! Since I've wanted to visit India for some time now, I think a personal invitation to the shows in 2010 are most certainly in order. Here a couple of my favorites from the Spring/Summer 2010 Collections. Find our more at http://www.lakmefashionweek.co.in/

Front Row

If you will be in NY on October 24th, don't miss one of the largest annual fashion shows, Front Row, sponsored by Mercedes Benz and Moёt & Chandon.

Come out in support of the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund as they celebrate an array of collections from emerging as well as established African American and Latino American fashion designers. This year's event, hosted by one of my favorite co-hosts of The View, Sherri Shepard is sure to be very entertaining.

Featured designers include, Byron Lars, Russell Simmons Argyle Culture and a special, new ethnic line from Walmart. Celebs will definitely be in attendance include ME...the one and only Style Mayvin! This year's honorees are Supermodel Naomi Campbell, international make-up artist Sam Fine and Emmy award wining hairstylist Andre Walker to name a few. Wait...I didn't know you could win an Emmy for hair! WOW! Well, I guess when it's Oprah's hair that you style, just about anything is possible. I wonder if he'll take a look at my mane. Hmmmm....

I HEART Jimmy Choo!

I'm now into this...."I-heart" thing thanks to my BFF and I really really HEART Jimmy Choo! This designer is one that every woman who claims to "know her shoes" should own at least one pair of.

In my current reading of "The Towering World of Jimmy Choo" (available at your local library...am I the only one who still checks out books?), this "Glamorous Story of Power, Profits and the Pursuit of the Perfect Shoe" has quickly become one of my favorite fashion literary pieces. I mean seriously people, this guy is a true rags to riches success story.

If your funds are a little low for the towering price tag, find a sample sale folks! Try Bluefly.com, Saks Fifth Ave or Net-A-Porter...just do what you gotta do. Believe me, it's well worth it!
