A New You in the New Year

Here are 3 beauty tricks to try, this New Year, to give you something a little bit different…something new!

Trick number one is an easy, everyday switch up. Go for a bolder eye by pairing a shimmery skin-toned shadow with a black lined lid. The shimmer in the shadow will give you a fresh face, while the flesh-tone color adds a “natural” glow. Add a clean line of black liquid liner to your top lid for a bit sultry finesse. Top off your eye makeup with a coat of black mascara (my favorite is DiorShow Blackout by Dior) for a dramatic finish. This subtle shimmer will keep you looking vibrant during the rainiest of spring days!

If you like to keep your make natural and lightweight this next tip will be perfect for you. Replace your usual cheek bronzer or blush with a rose colored shade. A light dust of a soft pale pink will give your cheeks a “just pinched” look. A touch of pink is also a great way to transition your make-up into the spring season. The shade makes the skin appear warm without the shimmer of a bronzer. You can’t go wrong with a matte face and a rosy cheek! Try the shade Amour by Nars…it’s the signature pink blush of Beyonce and looks great on all skin tones!

…and I saved the best (and most important) for last! SUNSCREEN! Just because the sun doesn’t always shine, during the spring months, does not mean you can skimp on the sunscreen! In order to have a beautiful and healthy complexion you have to protect it. UVA and UVB rays can cause sun damage under the surface of the skin that can lead to wrinkles and age spots! So choose a moisturizer with a built in sun block. I have sensitive skin, so I use Aveeno Positively Radiant daily moisturizer with SPF 30. It is an all natural formula and I find that it is less greasy than most sunscreens. Another great option n is Neutrogena Healthy Defense daily moisturizer SPF 50. This sunscreen is packed with minerals, it great for the more mature face. Keep your face as fresh (and healthy) as your style…

Try a few, or ALL, of these tips to give you a little sprucing up this year!
