Macy's and StyleMayvin Gift Card Contest
I did a contest with Macy's for a gift card during the Christmas season and it was so well received, we decided to do it again! So here's your chance, all you lucky SM readers, to win a $50 Macy's gift card and who couldn't use that this time of year?
With the combination of Black History Month and Valentine's Day, I thought it best to give you two ways to win!
First...if you pride yourself on being in the KNOW about art and especially if you're in the Charlotte, NC area where this artists' work has been and continues to be featured in our local galleries. At both the Mint Museum uptown as well as the Harvey B. Gantt Center, Romare Bearden's work can be enjoyed.
As per the BeardenFoundation.org website, "His success as an artist was recognized with his first solo exhibition in Harlem in 1940 and his first solo show in Washington, DC, in 1944. Bearden was a prolific artist whose works were exhibited during his lifetime throughout the United States and Europe. His collages, watercolors, oils, photomontages and prints are imbued with visual metaphors from his past in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, Pittsburgh and Harlem and from a variety of historical, literary and musical sources". Here's an example of one of his classic pieces I love.
So, to enter the contest from an Arts perspective, simple tweet the artists' name along with #BlackHistoryMonth to me @therealtstrong or @stylemayvin.
Also, since Valentine's Day is coming up quickly and Macy's is doing a wonderful initiative in support of the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women movement by donating $2 up to $250,000 for every tweet or Facebook status that includes #heart@Macys, I thought including this in the contest would not only add more opportunities to win but also to help raise funds. With that said, in addition to posting this hashtag/message on the Macy's FB page, you can post it on my page "StyleMayvin" page and/ or tweet it to me at either of the two handles above.
So get out there and start tweeting and face booking! The contest ends at midnight on February 11th. The winner will be announced on Sunday 2/12.
