DIY Turbans For Cancer Research

Earlier this month I attended a IFB (Independent Fashion Bloggers) event in NYC in support of Cancer research. Unfortunately, there aren’t many people I know who haven’t been affect by this disease in some way but fortunately, there are organizations like Fashion Fights Cancer  that makes events like this one a joy to attend.

Fashion Fights Cancer is a U.S. 501(c)(3) non profit organization that galvanizes the support of New York City and the international fashion community to raise awareness and funds for cancer research and therapeutic programs. FCC’s mission is to nurture the mind, bodies and souls of cancer patients and survivors through fashion and design-oriented activities. Now, who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?

For the DIY event, guests were invited to come out and mingle with other fashion bloggers while enjoying cocktails and light fare. We were given the opportunity to create our own personal, and stylish if I must say so myself turbans. Mine most certainly reflected my own unique style!

The location for the event, Pier 59 was perfect for a night out in the city. The atmosphere was exciting and the room was all a buz like a mini meeting of the creative, style minds.

Once my turban was complete, I enjoyed spending time out on the roof top taking in the scenery and the cool NYC evening air. The finished turbans are now up for auction on www.fashionfightscancer.org so please support this necessary and powerful movement in the name of fashion but most importantly, Cancer research.
