Last week Thursday, I attended the Harlem's Fashion Row (HFR) Awards and Fashion Show at Pier 59. It was an evening filled with a wonderful celebration of Fashion's Finest. This year the influential arts and entertainment organization geared towards talent of color had the pleasure of honoring Tracee Ellis Ross (ICON 360 Award), Macy's (Vanguard Award), InStyle's Kahlana Barfield (Editor of the Year Award), Bevy Smith (Trailblazer Award), Misa Hylton & Groovey Lew (Maverick Award), Azede Jean-Pierre (Designer of the Year Award) and Rachel Johnson (Stylist of the year Award).
Celebrities in attendance included Mary J. Blige and Sherly Lee Ralph. It was a night to be remembered. Although I lost my phone that night, (SIGH) with all of the great photos I took at the event on it...I still had a great time.
HFR has evolved into more than just a movement but a platform that focuses on elevating and empowering new multicultural designers. The mission is to encourage them to take a leap of faith and let their talents paint new pages in fashion history as successful independent designers.
