Give The Gift of Meditation

Lately I've had a lot of change going on in my life recently, some good and some really sad. That's affected by ability to write, my ability to focus and often times it's affected my ability to get things done. I am being transparent with my readers because I know you all go through times in your life like this as well. It's important to focus and recenter and thanks to The Path, I was able to start the journey of getting back to my super stylish self. If there's one thing that will always be on trend, it's taking care of mental and physical state.

A few weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to visit The Path meditation. The Path is an NYC based meditation company and below I wanted to share ways meditation in general is helping reduce stress levels, and as a result, counter ageing and lengthen your life. What a great gift to give to yourself or someone else this holiday season!

The Path teaches ancient meditation techniques in a modern way, making it more accessible, and understandable for fast-paced urbanites in today’s world. As someone who lives in NJ but frequents NYC often, I can certainly agree that this environment can be as stressful as it is busy but... only if you let it. Even if you think meditation isn't your "thing", just give it a try. You never know, you might be a natural! AND at the very least, with The Path you can feel the love. Believe me, I know. I felt it.

If the idea of more love in your life didn't tip the scale, how about this. Here are 4 ways meditation, (one of the best-kept beauty secrets, telomeres in specific) fights ageing.

·       Telomeres protect the ends of the chromosome from deterioration; Telomerase is an enzyme that causes telomeres to lengthen; telomeres shorten with stress and age; the shorter our telomeres become the shorter our lives do; meditation promotes positive psychological changes, which in turn increase telomerase
·       Skin is affected by our stress levels because it triggers the body to channel blood away from the skin, making you more prone to acne, wrinkles, and dry skin; meditation releases chemicals that counter the "stress" chemicals and hormones
·       Hair growth is negatively affected by stress due to its ability to constrict blood vessels; depriving hair follicles of the minerals and vitamins it needs for healthy hair growth; mediation promotes blood flow allowing the vessels to relax and minerals and vitamins to flow
·       Energy levels are lower when we stress due to the lack of oxygen able to flow to necessary parts of the body; meditation calms breathing and helps oxygenate our bodies, ultimately restoring energy loss

So for the tri-state area...now is the time to check out The Path. You won't regret it.

More about The Path:
After spending two years traveling around the world (including India) studying and practicing the art as a result of anxiety, panic attacks, and high stress from her career, founder of The Path Dina Kaplan, decided to bring meditation to NYC. The Path guides their community of meditators through a transformative path of consciousness by hosting group meditations and a number of special events each month.
