Manhattan Summer Party - M Missoni

Just wanted to share a few photos taken by Rachel Chandler at the M Missoni Summer Party. The M Missoni Summer Soiree celebrated the brand as well as a new, hot Scandinavian singer. Held on the rooftop of The Standard Hotel it was a great night with great views of the city.
Fabulous, beautiful people like Maryna Linchuk and Russian Tatler's Anya Ziourova we also in attendance.

Now, this is how a summer fashion and music collaboration should be done!

Oh and...I just had to include a photo of Chelsea Leyland getting her DJ on! I LOVE female DJ's. Isn't she adorable?! I'm thinking I would have chosen to be a DJ by profession if I weren't born to be such a StyleMayvin. :)

Camo Chic

I recently had the opportunity to feature a Michael Kors handbag while styling a fashion photo shoot and I have always loved MK and camouflage so this new collection of leather camouflage handbags for Fall definitely made an impact on me!

This particular style, (Xtra Large Tote $328) is great to use for shopping or if you're in to big bags like I am whether carrying one is currently "on trend" or not, it's perfect for the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Also priced at $328 is the actual bag I used for the shoot (courtesy of Dillard's South Park - Charlotte, NC) is the Large Leather Satchel and is also available at Lord & Taylor. So, whether you are up North or down South, you can own your very own subtle leather handbag from Michael Kors and it's a great way to update your look for NOW and into Fall!

Going Gold

In 80's fashion spikes were attached to a leather band and made you wanna say in your best MJ voice..."Who's bad?!" but as fashion always seems to reinvent itself, this is the perfect "new school" version.

The gold plated metal "Love Spike Bracelet" by CC Skye is great with a rocker jacket or with a simple look to add a little edginess to your look. It's a favorite of Katy Perry and a fav of mine as well, I can just bet that you'll love to own one too!

Available for $150 at http://www.shopkitson.com/

Denim Art

As a recent art connoisseur, basically since I've been more exposed to art on a weekly basis by working with an area art museum, I have tried my hand at being a docent and have done quite a good job if I must say so myself. However as always, everything comes back to fashion for me and with an art influence, it's totally understandable.

The Proenza Schouler/J Brand hand painted denim jeans are a beautiful work of art. Busy...somewhat but to be the right shape, size and enough confidence to pull off such a print is a gift of astronomical proportions. This is the Van Gogh of denim. Who's bold enough to try them?

What Time Is It?

This sparkling new design by Rado is not only eye catching...it's totally on trend! I love a beautiful white watch and this one with it's high-tech white ceramic design, fixed bezel and 62 diamonds has the perfect name...introducing the Rado True Chronograph Jubile'.

Available for around $1650, I'm thinking...is it too early to make my Christmas list?

Minx Nails

My readers know that I'm more into Fashion than beauty but apparently Fashion has extended to nails! Minx nails are all the rage and I must say, the look is quite fabulous!

Hollywood has been the leader of this trend but it is extending far beyond sunny California. As described on Minx Nails website, a company/salon in Fallbrook, California "a Minx is a sexy, confident, naughty but fun individual who lives every day like it is a big, ripe, juicy apple ready to be bitten. We've channeled this cool factor into Minx, a new and glamorous way that lets women (and men) extend fashion to their very fingertips." Now that sounds like it's right up StyleMayvin's alley!

This "nail fashion" is made of flexible film that is applied through heat and pressure. It usually lasts for about 8 days on the fingers and up to four weeks on the toes without chipping! Since it is actually a film and not polish, there are a wide range of designs to choose from but they must be applied by a trained professional. This is not a girls night out/slumber party activity but you can certainly all make appointments for a spa day and get Minxed. I think I'll find a fab nail tech in my area, round up my crew and try something new!

Franck Sorbier - Haute Couture

As the 3 days of Paris' Haute Couture Collections come to a close, this designer caught my eye. Most couture shows are filled with, sequins, rhinestones and over the top glitter but Sorbier showed in a very small hall which happened to be lent to him by Sotherby's auction house and wasn't the big-budget production like so many others yet, didn't seem to be lacking in any area.

The show included, as expressed by Jenny Barchfield - Associated Press writer, "A bustier in papier mache from old newspaper clippings had faux nipples made from wine corks. A baroque mirror with an ornate gilded frame was strapped to the model's chest, like a bustier. Woven raffia in saturated jewel tones became a ravishing, African-themed sheath dress. A Plane Indian coat in leather hung with dangling fringe was paired with a ballerina's skirt worn low around the model's ankle." I know...sounds tres' chic right? well, through all the excitement and creativity, Sorbier sent a message to all in attendance...deep pockets is not the only recipe for admiration and desire.

Zoe Rocks Calvin

Zoe Saldana was seriously the most beautiful Avatar I've ever seen so I guess it goes without saying that in her natural face and stripped down to her "skivvies" as the new underwear model for Calvin Klein, she simply sizzles!
I've been a fan of her acting skill for quite some time and it seems that more and more, celebrities are taking on the roles of models. For this particular new gig, she's following in the footsteps of Hillary Swank, Scarlett Johannson and most recently, Eva Mendes. Congrats miss lady! You rock!

"The ads, which were shot by renowned fashion photographer, Mikael Jansson in New York City will make their debut in October fashion magazines and on Websites and billboards."

Independence Day Style

Most 4th of July celebrations are beginning today but just in case you're still planning to go out searching for the perfect look for your Independence Day gala, here's a couple of great ideas that are outside of the norm.

Everyone will be going for the cutesie sundress look or casual jeans and tee and there's nothing wrong with that but why not do something different? Sparkle up the party with a fabulous retro 60's look! I'm loving this Polka Dot Halter Bubble Dress by Jessica Simpson. Already a fan of her footwear line, I'm quickly becoming a fan of the clothing as well. The dress sells for $98 on the Jessica Simpson website and is also available in Blue/White. Either color is very patriotic with a coordinating pair of strappy sandals or peep toe pumps.

Maybe you're going to an evening cocktail party to have a few drinks and enjoy the fireworks. Well, you can be sure to bring a few fireworks of your own, showing off your summer toned bod while rocking Victoria's Secret Exposed Zipper Jersey Dress (sale: $49.99). It's from their "Flirty Little Dress" collection and I can see why! I'm so into the exposed zipper detailing on a special occasion dress. It gives a vibe of sexy with a hint of surprise especially when placed along the back. Subtle yet alluring. That's a look I'm truly in support of!

So get out there and spice up the night...or day! Happy 4th of July!

Baby Bump Style

I'm so excited that one of my girlfriends is pregnant with her very first child and turned to me for a few ideas on how to stay cute, chic and fashionable with her new baby bump. Of course I'm up to the challenge and I know just how to do it and not break the bank!

One of my personal favorite places to shop for Maternity clothing is Old Navy. Yup! They have cute comfortable clothes that any Mom-to-be can afford. If you're getting ready for the beach or just a relaxing day by the pool, this is a cute little cover up that can also double as a sundress on a low key day. The Maternity Smocked tube Cover-up is available in Caspian Sea blue, Jet Black and my fav, Fuchsia Dazzle. (Love that color name!) and it's only $15.00 at OldNavy.com.

When you're ready to take a dip in the water to cool off, you'll need a fabulous new swimsuit to show off your pregger sexiness. Again, Old Navy to the rescue! They have an array of tank-ini's and halter swimsuits in a variety of colors but since you can never go wrong with black and it's always a very complementary color for any skin tone, my pick would be the Black Maternity Halter Swimsuit. It ties at the back of the neck and the empire seam is connected by a wooden "O", giving "the girls" just the support they need!

To keep your look comfortable yet stylish another great place to turn is The Gap. If you can't find a store that carries Maternity, online is definitely the way to go. You can put together one of my staple looks with a beautiful white Smocked Empire Tank ($29.50) and a pair of the sexiest, maternity style Cropped Skinny Jeans (59.50) I've ever seen! This is a great look for a casual day of shopping or a lunch date with the girls.
