Tea Party In NYC
Recently I had the opportunity to take my daughter to Gallow Green at The McKittrick Hotel. The event was a Children’s Potions & Planting Tea Party so you know my Princess, aka. the "MiniMayvin" loved that! I simply cannot think of a better way to spend my morning and if you have a stylish little lady or mini man of your own, this is definitely an experience you want to consider.
Located atop The McKittrick located in Chelsea near The High Line, we had a glorious morning and since she was invited to bring a special friend (her American Girl Doll, Ashly) to join us in the garden for tea, a bite to eat, planting and potion-making with the garden’s residents, it turned out to be a fabulously fashionable family affair.
Want to know all about our time there? Of course you do! Children who attended the event were encouraged to bring a recyclable bottle to make their own potions with "special powers". My little one brought hers home and loves all of the beautiful colors inside and it all started with a beautiful little crystal.

...and of course, rose water! What else would make the potion perfect?
The garden’s residents also provided lessons in planting as well as offering take-home mini flower press, plant soil, and seeds so the children can teach others how to plant and seed.
I think that the planting project was my daughter's favorite part of the morning...yes, even in a white dress. She even told one of the garden's residents' that all of New York should look exactly like this!
While all adults and children must have a paid reservation, dolls and teddy bears may enter free of charge and will get their own miniature seat and personalized bib. Is that not the cutest?

Lincoln Style At The Emmy's
The Lincoln Motor Company recently announced a multi-year collaboration with Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey, who will act as a storyteller in a series of upcoming TV and digital campaigns starting with the first-ever 2015 Lincoln MKC small premium utility. And this...just in time for tonight's Emmy Awards where Matthew is up for "Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
“Authenticity is a word that kept coming up in our initial meetings. It was clear from the start they appreciated me as an individual first and foremost, and I would be able to be myself in this collaboration,” said McConaughey, a longtime admirer of Lincoln. “Lincoln is an iconic, American brand and I like where they are heading with their transformation. I had the chance to drive the new MKC around Texas and I think they’re doing a good job.”
In a nod to McConaughey’s storytelling talents, Lincoln and director Nicolas Winding Refn (“Drive”) created a storyline for him around the MKC. In the spots, McConaughey invites viewers to experience the vehicle through unscripted moments in the commercial.
Be on the look out for McConaughey as he steps out of the new Lincoln MKC on the red carpet during this evening's Emmy Awards. I've been told by a little fashion birdy that he'll be dressed in a blue Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo too. So dapper!

As New York Fashion Week seems to be getting closer and closer, I have seriously been considering incorporating more sneakers into my look. I've been doing that quite a bit as of late. Not just because they are so much more comfortable than my super high heels but also because it's very trendy and chic these days. With that in mind, I saw these really cool Converse and trust me...I'm a sucker when it comes to Chuck Taylor's but these have an unmistakeable pattern...Missoni!

B-Boy Style
There's always something fun to do in NYC and the StyleMayvin team loves to check out all things stylish. Not only focusing on fashion events, we love art, culture, music and everything in between. Last Saturday, the nation’s top breakdancers showed off their best moves at the first annual McDonald’s B-Boy Royale, a charity event/competition to help raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities New York Tri-State Area, which provides stability and resources to local families and children. There's nothing like attending a charitable event and there's certainly nothing like one as exciting as this!

Happy 6th Anniversary - StyleMayvin
Yes! Today is the 6th Anniversary of StyleMayvin and I couldn't be more excited!
Created on 8/8/08, because it's my favorite number and 8 = Infinity so the timing for me to start the blog was perfect! This hobby turned ultimate style love affair has brought me so much joy, tons of fun and more unforgettable experiences than I could have ever imagined over the past 6 years and I want to thank everyone from the brands I work and partner with to all of my loyal (and newest) readers who support and enjoy the site everyday. Recently, a chic crowd joined designer Josie Natori for a pajama party to celebrate the Josie by Natori boutique opening in Nolita and of course StyleMayvin was among the invited guests. You were too if you saw my pre-event post! We love a fun NYC event, right? Well so did the other stylish guests!
Throughout the night, guests enjoyed origami lessons...so original and the Bosco Booth.
Plus, what's an event with sparkling Sofia wine cans, Onli sparkling flavored water and fortune cookies with style quotes from the designer? This was the perfect combination for a stylish new boutique opening.
Josie by Natori is a global, progressive and expressive collection that consists of mix and match lingerie, sleepwear, otherwear, accessories, home and fragrance in bold patterns, vibrant colors and exciting prints. The boutique is located in NYC at 253 Elizabeth St (between Houston and Prince) and is open Monday through Saturday from 11 AM to 7 PM, and Sunday from 12 PM to 6 PM.
