The Blues
By StyleMayvin Staff Writer: Shelby Christie
This season is filled with a sultry hue that seduces and tempts the most willful fashionistas. Blues are the best kept secret this year. Many of us might have been told a few tall tales about the color…Well it is NOT just a lighter shade of black; It has a purpose of its own! From powder to electric, you can’t go wrong when you’ve got the blues! But for now let’s focus on the softer side of blue…navy.
A favorite blue hue of mine is navy because it is a great alternative to the color black. It adds a touch of sophistication with a splash of subtle tint. If you are going to give Navy blue a try, I would recommend wearing it as key piece…like a blazer, a coat, or well tailored slack. A great jacket I would suggest to you is carried by Ann Taylor. It is a dark navy, wool, striped jacket. It’s marked down on www.anntaylor.com for $119.00. This blazer is really well constructed. You can pair it with jeans for a casual look or dress it up with a nice skirt.
The color navy is great option to consider wearing for the holidays. Red clothing tends to hibernate in our closets until the holiday season. You will get much more use out of a piece in this shade of blue, it can be worn in any season without looking out of place…like red often can. A great option I found for the holidays is a Donna Morgan dress, priced at $158.00. It is a navy, jersey-knit dress. I love the embellishments it has...It gives it a festive spunk, without over-killing the bedazzle element. You can check it out at www.Nordstrom.com .
Every now and again every lady gets the blues!
