StyleMayvin Unveiled...

Watch as StyleMayvin...aka T.Strong dispels some of the industry's most debated Fashion Myths! Yup...I'm finally "tooting" my own horn (TOOT TOOT) and stepping from behind the keyboard and into the zoom lens. ENJOY!

OMG! I NEED that!

You know that item that causes you to squeal with delight when you see it for the first time and you're like "OMG, I need that!"? Well here's my list of those "things" which have made me say just that...and I have a sneaky feeling that you too will begin to "coin the phrase".

With so many new gadgets out there, especially for the technology advanced, savvy woman like myself this is one that is invaluable in cold weather. The Echo Touch Glove will be your best friend when you're out in the cold. It's a "must-have" when you need your gloves on but still want to communicate using your touch screen phone. or ipod. These babies will keep your fingers toasty in a wool cashmere blend and the electromagnetic fabric on the fingertips keep you from missing calls, emails and text messages. AND...if you place your order TODAY at, you can receive them just in time for Christmas!

Since there will be a lot of merry-making during the next few days leading up to Christmas, I just know there will be that ooone laaast bottle of red wine left unfinished. In that case, before you store it away for the next day of jolly-jumping and celebratory- connecting, be sure to put a plug in it! Why not Style your wine with an Initial Wine Bottle Stopper? This item is super cute and inexpensive. Only $18 at If you're attending a party, this is also a great gift to accompany a bottle of wine for the Hostess with the Mostess! Maybe even spell out the hosts' name if it's something short like "Kori" but arriving with "Merry Christmas" spelled out might get you a one way ticket to an AA meeting.

Now this last one REALLY made me squeal because I am all about protecting my feet and although fashion is sometimes painful, I will avoid subjecting my feet to this pain at any cost. FootzyRolls just might be the best item ever made! See what I mean at Their tag line, "From Stilettos to Street Walkable Flats..." should have every woman reading this post saying...(let's all shout it out together) "OMG, I NEED that!" Not only are they small enough to fit in your smallest clutch bag, they are also stylish! The sparkly gold pair is my favorite (of course) but for a mere $25, you can afford to splurge on a variety of colors.

Capes, Capelets and Cloaks

Who would have ever considered Little Red Riding Hood a fashionable little girl? Normally I don't go for hooded capes but this Lambswool Lauren by Ralph Lauren Cape is très chic. For $150 at Macy*s online you can snag this cape and pair it with jeans and riding boots for a comfy day of shopping.

Here's a Capelet that can certainly take your look up a notch. Paired with a basic black dress (or almost any solid color frock), it adds a pop of color and frilly flair. Featured on, it's truly a one of kind piece.

Valentino does it big with this Cloak minus the Dracula "feel". In fact the Fall/Winter 2009/2010 collection included a variety of cloaks. This updated, fashionable version trimmed in fur is a "must-have" for those who are blessed with height and "long femurs" as one of my girlfriends likes to say.

If you're not into the cloak, the capelet and/or cape might be right up your alley. They're cute, they're fashionable and right on trend. There's something for everyone!

The Secret Is Out

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is undoubtedly the most exciting show of the year. And given the amount of actual fabric that's shown on each model, this is no small feat. Glitz, glamour, fun and riveting stage performances are all part of the formula that makes this show spectacular enough to pull millions of viewers.

As always, Heidi Klum aka "the body" graced the stage. A bit more covered up than usual but the fact that she's just given birth (once again) doesn't change her Supermodel status. She still holds the crown!

All of the ladies looked absolutely fabulous on the catwalk and this little number is a definite "must have" for me. I sure hope I look this good in yellow. These Angel Wings make me want to hit the gym IMMEDIATELY!

And the star of the show...the always highly anticipated Million Dollar Bra. What more can I say?
If you missed it last night on CBS or if you just need to see it again for "work-out" motivation log on to
Oh and congratulations to the newest "angel", Kylie. I was rooting for you girl!

Give the gift of shoes

Are you sitting around wondering how you can help a child in need this holiday season? Well, look no further. Give the gift of shoes! Toms Shoes' "One for One" campaign gives one pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair you purchase. This is a fabulously fashionable and charitable gesture. Not only do you get a new pair of shoes but you also get the warm feeling of knowing you've given someone else something that most of us take for granted everyday. I guarantee it will make your heart smile. I'm personally in favor of the Wrap Boot in Navy Blue ($98). They're so cute and comfy!

Wanna know how you can get involved? Log on to and watch . HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Red Pumps!

Cyber Monday!

Who's ready to "surf" their way down Christmas gift lane? For those who weren't brave enough to get out there and push through the crowds on Black Friday, here's your chance! You can still capitalize on all the greatest Holiday deals. It's Cyber Monday!

If you're still looking for the perfect party dress for an upcoming holiday fete, fret no more. One of my favorite sites, has the answer. With an extra 10% off for today only, you'll be sure to find the perfect look. My choice? This sateen strapless, bubble dress with rosette accents in Magenta by Romeo & Juliet ($98.10).

The Style Mayvin is hoping that someone, somewhere will recognize the fact that I am in desperate need of a new wallet! With not only my birthday but also Christmas right around the corner, I'm SURE that's one of the many gifts I'll receive...hint, hint. In fact, one designer in particular has a Cyber Monday discount that's so great, I was tempted to go ahead and purchase my own wallet...but I figured, "Why ruin the surprise for someone else?" Cole Haan's Zip Around Wallet from the Corporate Gifts collection is dainty and girlie, just the way I if I could only stop destroying every wallet I get with my collection of retail receipts (which I refuse to throw out). Regularly priced at only $148, the additional 30% off (TODAY ONLY) is an extra treat. The discount is applicable for any regular priced item online. Simply enter the discount code "Happy40" at check out and it's a done deal.

With all the talk of discounts, please don't forget the diamonds!Regretfully, I misplaced one of my beautiful diamond studs and have yet to replace it so I'm thinking, getting a whole new pair is certainly in order. For the very best in quality and style, is the best choice. Forbes magazine dubbed this site "Best of the Web" and if anyone knows lux life style, it's definitely Forbes. I'll take the Princess cut, 2 ct. tw., Platinum setting. WOW! Those are a wee-bit pricey but the collection of studs start at around $270 so there's something to fit almost every budget.
Happy Shopping on this beautiful Cyber Monday to all!

Ask and ye shall receive...

While blogging about over-the-knee boots a couple of weeks ago, I was secretly imagining myself wearing a brand new brown pair...why brown? I needed to replace my old brown favs for a new one so, I thought I should be specific.
So, needless to say I am now the happy owner of the Drive Boot by Natischa Harvey. Complete with the slightly chunky heel I imagined, these boots are very comfortable and of course stylish. Plus for only $99.99 you can have your own! Log on to

Laquered Up!

I usually don't cover beauty products but I am so into this winter's nail polish trends.

Normally not a desired color for your natural nails however, Grey is the new black! Love, love, love Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear Gunmetal and if you're a designer girl right down to your nails, try YSL's Tuxedo Gray (Yes...YSL makes polish too. Isn't that just great?).

Another great nail polish color for the season is purple. OPI's Purple with a Purpose and Dior's Vernis in Silver Purple are both simply beautiful. And don't forget the ever popular green! Light green, emerald and any shade in between could be that extra style push you need.
These popular colors can help you to glam up your hands as well as your look and although you may not think you could pull it off, try variations of these colors and you might be surprised to find one that fits you perfectly!

Nail Tip: Try the newest technique and polish the ring finger nail on each hand in a tonal, slightly darker color. It will give your hands that little extra pop!

AMA's Red Carpet Glam

The performances during the American Music Awards were quite "interesting" to say the least...but since I'm the Style Mayvin and not the "Music Mayvin", I'll keep those criticisms to myself.

The red carpet arrivals were as glamorous as ever. There was a sense of originality and creativity typical of musical artists. I have a couple of favs but my pick for best dressed is Alicia Keys. I loved her in Armani Prive' and if you've ever wondered...THIS is how you "do" blue! Right down to the beautiful blue shoes, handbag AND eyeshadow. Way to perfectly coordinate Ms. Keys.

All Style Mayvin fans know that I'm a sucker for a one-shoulder dress and Carrie Underwood literally shines in a gold lame' design by Theia. This is certainly one I would personally LOVE to have in my closet or at the very least on loan whenever I needed it.

Then there was the always classy Nicole Kidman. Not only is she beautiful, she has a very handsome husband. Keith Urban is better than any "purse" she could have chosen to accompany her stunning look. This asymmetrical Balenciaga is in one of the biggest colors of the season...grey. She wears it well.

Get on TREND

The hottest boot this season is an 80's punk rock oldie but goodie, Over-the-knee Boots!

The Julia Roberts in "Pretty Woman" look is not so much what your aim should be but a more chunky heel like the Coco colored, Twiggy Over-the-Knee Boot by Joie available at for $575. Also available at Saks is the Flat Suede Over-the-Knee boots by one of the most coveted footwear designers, Giuseppe Zanotti ($975).

If that's a bit out of your price range, don't can still get on TREND!

Try the Zigi Soho Shimmy Leather Over-the-Knee boot which comes in black and brown. Personally, I love the tassel and buckles! A definite reminder of my "big hair" days and a great statement piece for your arsenal. You can grab these at DSW Shoe Warehouse or online at for $199.95.

And...if you wanna take it one step lower, Steve Madden presents Blondee. It's a simple, suede Knee-High boot for only $99.95. ( To borrow a few lines from Dres of BlackSheep, "And you can't beat that with a bat. So you can GET with this, or you can GET with that..." Whatever you do, just GET on TREND!

Designer of the Month - MARNI

Since the launch of Marni in 1994, Consuelo Castiglioni has designed some of the most chic "looks" to ever hit the catwalk. The Italian label was born from Castiglioni's husband's family fur business and is known for it's use of bold, graphics and prints with a feminine touch and of course, fur. For those who aren't a fan of fur and prefer faux (try saying that three times fast..), this may not be your favorite designer but you can't deny the unmistakable way almost any woman can carry off these trendy styles. If you like what you see, get your clothing, handbags, shoes or eyewear "Marni fix" at or pick up the latest ready-to-wear collections at Barney's New York, Jeffrey New York and Bergdorf Goodman.

Introducing H&M...Again

The ultra fashionable, uber trendy H&M (Hennes & Mauritz) opens the doors of it's NYC flagship store at 5th Ave and 51st St once again. The GRAND REOPENING kicks off Monday Nov 9th at noon and if you're one of the first 300 lucky shoppers in line to view H&M's new fashion forward look, you'll be granted an "Access to Fashion" gift pass valued from $10-$300! That would be the perfect discount to help you score a pair of Jimmy Choo for H&M shoes set to launch on Nov 14th. if the party starts at noon, I wonder what time the line will begin to form...Hmmm...Sounds like it might be one heck of a party! Stop in or check out the Fall/Winter collection online at

Do animal prints really ever go out of style? I'm not exactly a fortune teller but I can TELL you this...the Louis Vuitton Leomonogram bracelets from Spring/Summer 09 ($385) will and should most definitely cross over into Fall. While most of our animal friends are getting ready to hunker down and hibernate through the winter, don't be fooled...these fashionable accessories can battle any breezy day! So, stack 'em on and add a little spice to your cold-weather wardrobe.

Shoe Porn

If you're a true Style Mayvin fan, you know that I LOVE Christian Siriano! Although his shoe line for Payless was announced last December, it's finally hitting the stores and has garnered press from the ultimate Media Mogul herself...The "O".

With enough spikes and chains to make even a hardcore porn addict blush, I'm sure you want to know which styles you can actually find in Payless stores. (see As a student of the fashion game, and former fashion buyer myself, I know that many things "change" in the style department from conceptualization to actual in-store product. Nonetheless, I still love this designer and the fact that his creative eye is now focused on one of my most guilty pleasures (the wonderful world of footwear), I couldn't be happier!

Bring it Christian! They are FIERCE!

Easy on the eyes

For all of the Tory Burch fans out there, here's a new accessory to add to your "must have" list.

Along with the cute little flats, handbags, jewelry and clothing (I have a gorgeous, linen TB dress that I totally love!), Tory Burch's newest line of sunglasses are now available on line! Just in case you didn't know, sunglasses are not exclusively purposed to be worn during those hot summer months. Your eyes, the windows to your soul, should also be protected from the cold winter winds so I say...perfect timing Tori! You can snag the style of your choice from the Tori Burch Eyewear collection for under $200. Check it out at

TMCF's "Front Row"

What a great time had by all! The red carpet for the Thurgood Marshall College Fund Fashion Show was all a buzz last Saturday evening.

The event's host, Sherri Shepard (The View), dressed in THE color of the season, dazzled the paparazzi and sent the audience into a complete "giggle fit" (including myself) when she graced the stage. HBO...give the lady a stand up comedy special!

The evening of fashion featured looks from designers: Byron Lars, Kai Milla Designs, Russell Simmons Argyle Culture, Nico & Adrian, Amsale (my personal fav), Angela Dean for DeanZign, Annie S Intimates, a special "ethnic" line by Walmart (What does that mean by the way?), Montgomery, Francis Hendy and emerging designers Ellie Owen and Magnami Style & Company.

Naomi Campbell, dressed in a Dolce & Gabbana Dress, Dennis Blasso Fur Coat (yup...I said fur) and square-toe, black heels by Alexander McQueen walked the red carpet with her boyfriend Vladmir. She is even more stunning in person if you can imagine that! (photo at right courtesy
Overall, a wonderful night for an even better cause and a nicely stocked bar in VIP to boot. Can't beat that!

Exhibit A

For everyone who's still clueless about wearing Black and Brown, when it's done right...almost any color combo matches and black & brown IS one of them. Here are my case closing arguments.

Brown , the distant cousin to Gold, looks fab with black when you have just the right mix and touch. See Anne Hathaway (left), Exhibit A. This sophisticated, yet casual look is great for hanging out with the girls, a day of intense shopping or just a stroll around in the village topped off with a quick caramel macchiato. Do not be fooled, as the evidence clearly shows, these colors do 100% complement each other. If somehow you still can not reach a unanimous decision in this case, I implore you, look deep into your closets, find complementary black and brown pieces and try it for yourself. I have no doubt you will do the right thing and walk proudly out of your front door with new found understanding.
P.S. Should you have any other fashion or color combo questions, I will be giving free consultations via this blog for a select few. Want your opportunity to have your style question answered? Send it in an email to me at and your question could be chosen as the next feature!

The NEW 4-Finger Ring

Alexander McQueen like many other designers, is taking us back to the 80's...and in a GREAT way if I might add.

This new take on the 4-Finger ring with Clutch combo is chic and rugged all at the same time. Makes you want to start a really "dainty fight" right? Maybe backstage at the American Music Awards? Just kidding...
You can pick this one up at Saks Fifth Ave for a mere $1895. No Kidding!

Frye Anyone?

Frye boots are my absolute favorite! Not only are they comfortable , the current styles are some of the most fashionable boots ever made.

The infamous motorcycle boot that so many people wore and loved in the 90's (and continue to wear now), literally comes from a family of footwear that's as old as the Civil War. Now, if the soldiers on both sides of that fight as well as the Rough Riders led by Teddy Roosevelt could wear Frye boots in battle, they MUST be extremely comfy. With such a rich, yet tragic history, the Frye boot lives on and now proclaims...I'm a lover, not a fighter!

The grey Frye Dorado Low Boot ($498) is available at along with many other great styles for the Fall/Winter season. Go on now...Get the boot!

Designer of the Month - Christopher Kane

Now that TOPSHOP has officially been in New York for about 6 months, we can all get the Brits' tough-chic, "mood" look.
I call this the "Don't mess with me dress". (substitute the word "mess" with whatever works for you). It looks kinda angry doesn't it? The cotton Croc Dress is available for $125...check it out in store or at

If you want to stand out...this designer does it best. It's like 3D in motion!

Bollywood Style

As of late, I have been completely intrigued by the hottest Bollywood couple, Aishwarya Rai & Abhishek Bachchan. (Americans...try saying their name 3 times fast!) Aside from being extremely easy on the eyes and quite fashionable, they have been dubbed "the world's most famous couple".

This couple is not the only hot topic in Bollywood which, by the way is "the informal term popularly used for the Hendi-language film industry based in Mumbai, India" (thanks Wikipedia). Lakme Fashion Week which took place in September celebrated it's 10th year! Since I've wanted to visit India for some time now, I think a personal invitation to the shows in 2010 are most certainly in order. Here a couple of my favorites from the Spring/Summer 2010 Collections. Find our more at

Front Row

If you will be in NY on October 24th, don't miss one of the largest annual fashion shows, Front Row, sponsored by Mercedes Benz and Moёt & Chandon.

Come out in support of the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund as they celebrate an array of collections from emerging as well as established African American and Latino American fashion designers. This year's event, hosted by one of my favorite co-hosts of The View, Sherri Shepard is sure to be very entertaining.

Featured designers include, Byron Lars, Russell Simmons Argyle Culture and a special, new ethnic line from Walmart. Celebs will definitely be in attendance include ME...the one and only Style Mayvin! This year's honorees are Supermodel Naomi Campbell, international make-up artist Sam Fine and Emmy award wining hairstylist Andre Walker to name a few. Wait...I didn't know you could win an Emmy for hair! WOW! Well, I guess when it's Oprah's hair that you style, just about anything is possible. I wonder if he'll take a look at my mane. Hmmmm....

I HEART Jimmy Choo!

I'm now into this...."I-heart" thing thanks to my BFF and I really really HEART Jimmy Choo! This designer is one that every woman who claims to "know her shoes" should own at least one pair of.

In my current reading of "The Towering World of Jimmy Choo" (available at your local I the only one who still checks out books?), this "Glamorous Story of Power, Profits and the Pursuit of the Perfect Shoe" has quickly become one of my favorite fashion literary pieces. I mean seriously people, this guy is a true rags to riches success story.

If your funds are a little low for the towering price tag, find a sample sale folks! Try, Saks Fifth Ave or Net-A-Porter...just do what you gotta do. Believe me, it's well worth it!

Not quite ready for boots...

These are the ABSOLUTE CUTEST! I love, love, love tube socks. It's so 80's basketball-short shorts look but when you add a comfy flop flop to it, whaddya get? ...TUBE FLOPS! Even saying the name makes me smile. Grab these at and hold on to 'em till Spring...unless of course you're on the West Coast and in that case, you guys know what to do.

Who to watch?

Remember cute little Emma Watson from the Harry Potter films? Well, she's just as cute but not so little anymore.

Quickly turning into a British fashionista, Emma graced the red carpets at The Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Premiere in London in a Vintage 70's Ossie Clark Gown. The girl...excuse me, Young Lady, definitely has good taste. I adore vintage!

Yet another taste-maker to watch out for...Isabel Lucas who stared in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (great movie by the way). She looked stunning at the Tokoyo premiere in a short, white Dior creation.

Python never looked so sexy... I missed this one in 2008 when Katie Holms was photographed with it draped across her arm and apparently, I missed it again as the Chloe Python Paraty Bag ($3820) is even sold out on one of my favorite sites Needless to say, at that price could a representative from Chloe just hook me up? Sheesh! But for those of you would wouldn't mind downgrading to the Paraty Medium Tote, Saks has it for $1895.
Hmmm...does that constitute as a downgrade or upgrade?
