Fashion is definitely in the air and the divas are all a buzz about the Sex And The City 2 Premiere!
Yesterday in NYC, the real Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda made their way down the Red Carpet at the Sex And The City 2 movie premiere. Somehow, my NYC invitation to attend this premiere must have gotten lost in the mail...darn that postman! But although I wasn't able to be in the Fashion Capital to celebrate the premiere, I will be attending a private screening
If you're in the Charlotte, NC area you already know that there are about 5 opportunities to attend a premier so there is no excuse for you not get glammed up, go out there and get Carrie'd away!
Where to go in Charlotte: Hope you already have your tickets as most are SOLD OUT!

Since May 12th, the 63rd Festival de Cannes has been hopping with celebrities! So much fashion it will make your head spin! This is an experience I certainly want to have in 2011 but how do you pack for this? Really? Glammed up every day is hard work!

Kate Blanchette attends the premiere of Robin Hood wearing fashion by the late, great Alexander McQueen. From the pre-fall collection, it's a stunning eagle embellished gown. Love it Kate!

These ladies know how to do it! Attending the bash in honor of Director, Martin Scorsse at the Hotel du Cap-Eden Roc, these super fashionistas showcase two different, yet equally beautiful designs. Jenny Lo in a one of a kind Gucci dress (how do I get a one-of-a-kind Gucci by the way?) and Naomi Campbell in head to toe Valentino. (Photo Credit: Venturelli/VF1/WireImage)
Jennifer Hudson shows us that blue does great things for the body. The Oscar winner and Weight Watchers new spokesperson shows off her new figure while working this Alexander McQueen dress at a cocktail party celebrating her upcoming biopic, Winnie. (Photo Credit: WireImage)
With so much style and fashion to see in Cannes, I truly couldn't share it all but these are some of my favorites thus far...yes, that's right. It's not over yet! The festival continues until May 23rd. Can you stand to see more? Stay tuned!
Are you ready for the highly anticipated Sex And The City 2 movie? I would like to say yes but I am STILL looking for that perfect look to walk the red carpet at my local premiere. Although the movie is set for release in theatres on Thursday May 27th, I am fortunate enough to be able to attend a pre-screening on Tuesday May 25th! I love being able to get the exclusive first look...I wouldn't be StyleMayvin if I didn't!

All of my readers know that I go "gaga" for shoes. When I went out shopping a few weeks ago looking for nothing in particular but simply taking it all in, I came across these stunning Michael Kors nude pumps and I thought, what better way to end a perfect shopping trip than to "Go Nude"? I love them SO MUCH because they look even more fantastic on AND they were ON SALE! My favorite part of the design is the platform and the patent, nude stripe accents on the cork heel. Mr. Kors, you are genius if I've ever seen it!
Now for all of my more petite readers or those who want the illusion of a lean, statuesque woman, this is the perfect shoe color and style for you. Not only do they coordinate with anything in your closet, the color will totally make your legs appear longer and leaner. Go as close as possible to your actual skin tone and your lovely limbs will seem endless...legs for days! Trust me ladies...nude pumps are the "new black" essential pumps. It's a must-have shoe!
Statement necklaces continue to make a bold entrance but the focus has now turned to statement shoes! These sandals by Vince Camuto, the Ami Sandal($89) are bold and beautiful. They are perfect to be worn with jeans or a simple, classic dress. The intricate detailing of the T-Strap includes a snake print leather upper, bold jewels, metallic hues and a comfortable leather outsole...what more could you possibly ask for in a flat sandal? Add some serious "wow" factor to your wardrobe and grab a pair at Dillard's.com.
As we morn the loss of Lena Mary Calhoun Horne, an American Icon, I remember her as not only beautiful but her style was a force to be reckoned with.
The singer, actress and dancer was born in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, NY on June 30, 1917 and died on May 9, 2010. She had the voice of an angel and was just as beautiful at the age of 92 as she was at 16 when she joined the mike chorus of the Cotton Club. She went on to become the first African American performer to sign a contract with the major Hollywood studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) thus making strides in the industry and paving the way for other female performers of color. One of my favorite roles she played was Glenda in The Wiz. Of course...it's all about the costume design to me and that's a personal favorite movie of mine! This photo of her gracefully showing off the one-shoulder style dress (my fav!) is simply flawless. Now this is epitome of what glamour and elegance in fashion means to me. R.I.P. Lena Horne. You will be missed.
The range of gowns was simply overwhelming and it was quite difficult for me to choose a favorite. So, I've decided to show my top 5 most stylish looks!
Kerri Washington who is quickly becoming one of my favorite celeb style icons went fire engine red and I absolutely loved it! This is your color Kerry! The dress a one-of-a-kind Thakoon for Gap asymmetrical red gown. Remember Thakoon was one of my previous picks for designer of the month? (Yup...I'm good!) She paired it with Tasaki by Thakoon jewelry and Christian Louboutin shoes. Sizzling hot!
Giselle Bunchen put a tasseled spin on the little black dress and it is fantastic! This long sleeved, form fitting leather mini dress by Alexander Wang shows off her post-baby body. These new parents left me speechless. Tom Brady's classic Tom Ford tuxedo was the cherry-on-top of the super couple's look!
Jennifer Lopez was stunning ...Just like a Princess! She wore a silver sequin-dusted Zuhair Murad Haute Couture strapless grey gown, Judith Leiber clutch and Sergio Rossi sling backs. Whew! Then add Stephen Russell and Cartier jewelry...Slam Dunk for Jenny-Lo!
The Queen of TV, Oprah shows all of the "new divas" how to really do the red carpet. Not only is she physically wearing a navy, silk organza Oscar De La Renta gown, he is also by her side as her date for the evening. Seriously Oprah...that's what I call making an entrance! She also wore Jimmy Choo sandals (of course) and HER OWN jewelry! You go O!
Rounding out the top 5 is Gwen Stephani wearing a 1930's inspired, vintage lame' gown from her own clothing line L.A.M.B. One thing about Gwen...she always reps for self and looks good doing it. Her always dapper husband, Gavin Rossdale looks like he's modeling for GQ. They totally compliment each other.
This stunning young lady is new on the fashion scene, straight from Brazil and adding a little spice to the industry.
Lais Ribeiro is definitely more curvaceous than her European counter parts and her silky smooth Brazilian skill is definitely turning heads. These differences have made her a star in just her first season! Originally walking for the Rag & Bone Fall 2010 show, she has also booked with Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Versace, Roberto Cavalli and Dolce & Gabbana! Meanwhile the 19 year old recently gave birth to her first child...You better work! Congratulations on your success!
Recently the fashion industry lost yet another icon. At the age of 72, Jean-Louis Dumas has died. Dumas ran Hermes for almost 3 decades and has been hailed as an "emblem of French luxury". He began his career as an Assistant Buyer for Bloomingdales before joining the family business in 1964. I personally admired his beginning as a Buyer, maybe because that was the beginning of my career in fashion as well. There's certainly something to be said for working your way up in the industry from the ground up.
Whether you've been fortunate to own one of the coveted Hermes Birkin Bag or simply an Hermes scarf or not, I'm sure you can appreciate the luxury exuded by the Hermes franchise. Dumas was a visionary! He was able to attract top designers like Jean-Paul Gaultier who reinvented the Hermes women's ready-to-wear collection. Such genius will certainly be missed.
The Kentucky Derby is probably the most famous 3 minutes in sports and Derby Style is always sure to please. Oh the excitement! I am a HUGE fan of big, beautiful hats and as I have decided that the older I get, the bigger my hat should be.
Here's one that Paris Hilton considered while out shopping for the "Hottest Hat" and actually I would have personally loved to wear. The feather is too cute...Not too much but just enough to make a statement. Rebecca Romijn wore classic white from head to toe this year. Her hat reminds me of a true Southern Belle. For this photo she was smart enough to have Jerry O'Connell positioned on the side where her hat dips down, cause I'm telling you from experience, it's hard to take a couples picture in one of these without poking the other person.
Smoky Robinson and his date wearing a matching color combo was elegant and surprising not overdone. I usually don't like to see couples all "matchy-matchy" but these two totally got it right! Reminds me of my parents...Classy! The 136th annual Kentucky Derby brought out the most fabulous hats, styles and believe me when I tell ya, it wasn't just the celebrities making a statement. Attendees seem to step it up a notch every year. If you haven't been before or even if you have and you're thinking about attending in 2011, start preparing now! My motto for my hat selection is, GO BIG or STAY HOME!
