Resort to This!

Cruise and Resort wear is in full swing! These collections are made specifically for those who go on Holiday and vacation in the warm Mediterranean areas of the world. This inter-season line of clothing is a reminder of summer's past and the summer's to come in the States. High fashion houses like Chanel (see Cruise Collection runway show in the post below), Versace, Dior, Ralph Lauren and Gucci create looks for a season originally meant for wealthy customers and "jet-setters" but today you can find many Cruise Collections from a variety of designers to fit every budget.

I am personally a Gucci fan and if you find as I do that having a quality handbag is high on the list of important items to have, here's my favorites from the Gucci Handbags Cruise Collection!

The Gucci Heritage Medium Tote is my top pick of the collection. This light tobacco leather with the 3 line signature green/red/green stripe has clean design lines and would look chic on the wrist of any woman! Available to ship by 4/8/11 for $1350

Second in the lineup...Gucci took it back to the vintage look. I LOVE this bag! Gucci Vintage Web Tote ($1290) boasts the double G repeat pattern and the the style lines are vintage yet classic. Who wouldn't want to be seen sporting this one?

And last but not least...metallics are totally in this season and in Metallic Mauve? Come on're killing me with this one!!! I NEED IT!!! The GG Twins Medium Hobo Bag ($980) is not one to rock daily ladies. Not that it's a special occasion bag because it's metallic but it's definitely a conversation piece. Produced in guccissima leather with complimentary double G nickel and light golden hardware, this bag makes me speechless!

Cruise Time

Cruise is one of my favorite collections to see each year not only because I LOVE the tropics but also because the colors and fabrics of the Cruise collections really speak to who StyleMayvin is. If you missed it or if you don't know what Cruise is...look no further. Let Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel show you how it's done! Be sure to check out Part 1 and 2!!!

A Taste of Tweed

By: StyleMayvin Staff Writer Shelby Christie

Tweed blazers have a chic and timeless look that is perfect for the fall. It offers you men’s-wear appeal blended with an equestrian flare. You can prep it up with a crisp collar shirt, or rock it funky with a chunky scarf. Tweed blazers vary in cut and patterns. Boden offers up a great looking blazer with pocket accents for a steal at $198. When choosing a tweed blazer yourself, here are three major things to consider…Pattern, sleeve length, and cut.

The larger the pattern on the blazer, the bolder the look it gives off. This style may be a great option for a tall woman. The statuesque woman’s frame can handle the depth of the pattern without looking drowned in a bulk of print. When choosing a sleeve length you want to be mindful of your height and of the blazer’s function. If you want to wear layers underneath your tweed blazers you should go for a full length sleeve because quarter length sleeves don’t allow for long sleeves to be worn with it. Quarter length sleeves are a great option for petite women. It will allow her to have the classic look of the tweed blazer, without appearing overpowered by too much fabric. Plus, showing a little skin never hurt! Now for the most important detail to consider when choosing a blazer... The cut. This rule will apply for all shapes and sizes of women: look for a well-tailored blazer that is cut with a cinch in the waist. This will create curves for any type of shape and create a waist as well.

Whether you wear it funky or button it up Prep-school style…DO give this classic a try!

Mitsubishi and the StyleMayvin

My followers know, I don't usually do car reviews but I thought hey...the fashionable ladies who don't live in NYC or some other major city must be driving around in style so it's important for them to Stay in the KNOW...on the most stylish rides!

For 2011, Mistubishi takes it's line of crossovers to an all new direction and don't be surprised if you see them in all levels of price brackets very soon. The Outlander's a takeover mission. With the crossover market growing, especially among the Generation Y buyers who are always looking for affordable, fun transportation, Mistubishi introduces the Outlander Sport.

On a recent trip to Cabo San Lucas, I...the StyleMayvin was among a few of the hand picked websites and publications selected for a superior driving experience with Mitsubishi's new 2011 Outlander Sport and I had a BLAST! Along with my drive partner Tim who writes for High Snobiety and a few other great people, we drove across Mexico on over an hour long drive, gazing upon the breathtaking views and dodging the cows that randomly cross the road without warning...interesting experience but thoroughly impressive.

For starters, the sleek yet aggressive front end styling gives it a presence demanding look without being overdone. In true style and fashion, it's accessorized appropriately. Mitubishi's Product Strategy Manager, Brian Arnette says this design is only the beginning of brand recognition in the street. The ergonomic design inside doesn't have a ton of buttons however the focus is more on the "touch points". Here's where Mistubishi really considers the driver. These "touch points" are areas that the driver has to touch regularly to navigate the car like the steering wheel and shift knob so both are leather, not plastic. And it's a very nice leather too! The one touch start/stop engine switch means, searching through your purse for keys and the Passive Entry Systems add to the "addictive features" of the vehicle. The only thing I missed was a special place to actually put my purse! I mean, the Gucci needs it's own spot to rest right? Maybe they can add that feature especially for me?

One feature that I absolutely loved is the glass sunroof. It's HUGE...and it has LED light rails that have 3 settings for mood and ambiance. The colors available can even coordinate with your look for the night! It's a fun and creative feature that adds a super hot element of design. To top it off, the vehicle also offers the FUSE hands free link system that connects to BlueTooth. Drivers can plug in their contacts on the navigation system and all of your music from an iPod or even a simple thumb drive. With this feature, drivers are able to use voice recognition to hear all of the music we love. Stylistas...let me tell you, in this car, not only will we look good when we step out of it, we will look fab driving it. Now...who wants to be the talk of the town?

Thanks so much to the Mistu team! After enjoying the Outlander Sport drive, experiencing all the vehicle has to offer, loving the amenities of the same ME-Cabo resort on Nikki Beach where celebs like Diddy, Adam Sandler and Tara Reid have partied, the shopping, dinners and major entertainment that was literally as HOT AS FIRE and the most relaxing spa experience EVER...I certainly look forward to the next one!

Tough and Sexy

The Military look is big for Fall/Winter this year and if you don't have the look yet and even if you do, let me tell you how to rock it! Go tough and sexy with studs and camo!

There's no need to wear head to toe Military but one item in army green or camouflage can certainly set off an outfit. This simple cashmere sweater from Scoop NYC spiced up with shoulder beading is a perfect start to making this trend work for you. Pair with jeans and a simple black shoetie (shoe bootie) for a super chic look.

Everyone knows that I'm a huge fan of Michael Kors so the MICHAEL by Michael Kors sleeveless dress certainly caught my eye last season. Although it's sleeveless, don't pack up this summer favorite just yet. Add a black or tan cardigan with a complementary gold belt to complete the look. Oh and don't forget your opaque tights! You can get this dress NOW... ON SALE at Macy*s for only $64.99!

The StyleMayvin loves a good shoe and Guess by Marciano's "Symone" ($248) is right on trend. This stylish bootie has a 4 1/2" heel with a 1/2" platform. I've found that when designers add a platform to shoes it actually helps to make it more comfortable... at least for me it does and these are no exception. The studs coupled with the peep toe and side button design in the standout pop color gold makes this a cool statement shoe. Once again, opaque tights with these are a requirement. Don't be afraid to wear tights with peep toes! Trust me...

Faux Fashion

By StyleMayvin Staff Writer: Shelby Christy
Faux fur vests are a great way to achieve that luxe-look without dropping a bundle of cash. The rich appeal of the fur pays homage to its vintage roots, while still making it relevant today. When looking for a faux fur vest make sure it has an abbreviated shape and lots of volume. This will insure it has that vintage, rugged look that it is beloved for. It will add texture to any simple ensemble. We all know versatility is key and faux fur vest will provide you with the option to play down an outfit or snazzy up a look. The fact that the vest is without sleeves makes it a staple item throughout any season.

Faux fur is also a great way to be mindful of our fury friends. Celebs, like Khloe Kardashian and Kimora Lee-Simmons, have supported PETA’s efforts to raise awareness about the mistreatment of animals. They have proclaimed “I rather go naked, than wear fur” to raise awareness of animal rights. Faux fur is an option that supports this cause, while still providing you with the look and feel of authentic fur.

The treatment of faux fur is a breeze! A quick trip to the dry cleaners is all it takes to keep it clean. You won’t have to fuss over storage options either. Just hang it up in your closet and if you are worried about dust or dander hang it up in garment bag. One of my favorite faux fur vest options is by stylist Rachel Zoe. It is offered up through her QVC clothing line and is a steal at $79.00. I love that it comes in a variety of shades. Don’t be shy to try this chic new look! Bundle up this fall in your faux fur!

Sweater Time

Early bird gets the warm at Old Navy!

This Saturday, from 7am to 10am, some of my favorite sweaters for everyone in the family are just $10 in-stores!

If you were one of those people who weren't exactly ready when the weather changed so drastically and Mother Nature let us all know that summer is definitely a thing of the past, you should check out the Old Navy selection. What's better than spending a little money for a few fabulous items to get you ready to transition into Fall today? Nothing I can think of! Now get out there and shop!

Over the Rainbow with Ferragamo

In 1938, Salvatore Ferragamo designed a Rainbow Sandal for the beautiful and talented Judy Garland. Ferragamo re-released this exclusive edition of a very famous shoe and guess what? They are already out of stock!
I'm just curious...are there any stylistas out there who thinks they could sport these today and look at hot as Ms. Garland did in the 30's? At first glance, I thought this was a design from the 70's...I'm sure you can see why I thought that so this goes to show just how much what goes around always comes right back around in fashion. Maybe I'll bring them back again in 2020!

Pump It Up!

Miu Miu has crafted the most fabulous little pumps and I'm totally "pumped" about them! These aren't your Grandma's pumps ladies!

One of my favorites from the Runway Collection available at Neiman Marcus is the Bi-Color Scalloped Patent Pump ($650) that have the classic black and white design on wing tips but with a stylish, square open toe with 1" platform and a 4 1/4" heel which squares off on the tap for extra comfort. I can see merchandising these with a traditional suit to spice it up and add some pizazz to your office attire.

This style really expresses the essence of StyleMayvin. Ladylike yet hard in a delicate sort of way. Sounds like a bit of an oxymoron but hey...that's my style and these shoes are simply a must have for me. At $990, Miu Miu certainly needs a product review by the one and only StyleMayvin...size 9 Please and Thank You! Seriously, the studded square toe, silver bow, flower hardware and the 4 1/4" heel could be worn with my favorite outfit (jeans and a white shirt) and ooze more class and sophistication than any shoe I've seen this season. The Runway Flower that's a bad shoe!
