Portero Pre-Owned

If you're into luxury handbags and accessories and don't mind buying them pre-owned, Portero is a website where you can grab a number of very awesome finds! The Wall Street Journal says it's 'One of the best options on the Web for buying authentic merchandise." and you gotta believe The WSJ!!! Right?

From what I can see, there's tons of haute bags like this LV Monogram Hobo for $1345 and even though some of the items are still quite expensive, they're a bargain based on price if purchased brand new.

I also really love this Hermes clutch bag! The color is super chic! I think this might be my new "go-to" site.

McQueen Coat

I am so NOT ready for Fall as I bask in the sun of this fabulous summer we are having but while on one of my regular cycber shopping excursions, I came across this baby! Whew! Alexander McQueen does it again. I am a huge fan of military jackets and this one just might be the best one yet. It's price tag boasts $795 (available at NeimanMarcus.com) but could we just call this one an investment? PLEEEEASE!!!

Rachel Zoe Collection

Are you a fan of Reality TV? I certainly am however most often the shows I watch are of course, fashion related. Shows like Project Runway , All on the Line and The Rachel Zoe Project top my list of favorites. In fact, Rachel Zoe is a celebrity stylist who's work I've followed and admired for quite some time so it surprises me not that she would evolve into a fashion designer. And as the "it" stylist of the industry, only she would go right to the top by teaming up with luxury retailer Neiman Marcus. Facebook fans of the mega retailer, were able to get first dibs at the new collection. Starting just a few days ago, on June 28th, the race for a chance to win a $2500 gift card from Neiman's plus a private meeting with "the" Rachel Zoe began. But don't fret, you're not too late to enter. All you have to do is "Like" Neiman Marcus on Facebook to get started. It's such an exciting opportunity for any stylista because in order to enter you must put on your super stylist cape and create your own looks featuring shoes, handbags and apparel from the Rachel Zoe collection. Do I hear your fabulously manicured fingers logging on to Facebook right now? I'm so sure!

If you're one of those folks who's just ready to shop your little hearts out, you'll have to wait just a little while longer. The collection won't hit stores until the Fall but guess which one of the 41 Neiman Marcus locations will carry the collection? That's right, you guessed it! The one nearest me! South Park Mall, Charlotte. I'm loving this city more and more!

Something For Your Sole

Shoe shopping is such an exciting activity, one that I haven't had the time to partake in lately...the world of StyleMayvin seems to get busier everyday but at least as I write, then write some more and then write a little bit more, I can find time to cyber window shop. That's when I ran across these!
Can we all gasp together?!? *Yelling* Christian Louboutin! These shoes are classic and edgy all at the same time. The Margo Mixed Media pumps can be purchased at SaksFifthAve.com for $795. They can be perfectly worn with almost anything! I even love the mix of fabrications and color...hence the name. They are suede, leather and patent leather. Only Louboutin can make that combo look this haute! With a 5.5" heel, Mr. Louboutin was nice enough to add a padded insole...(thank you sir)

and of course the signature red leather sole. How can you resist?

Coco Anyone?

Last night I watched the movie "Coco Before Chanel" on the Starz channel and although I've always been a bit smitten with Coco Chanel (born Gabrielle Chanel), this movie showing her life before the design house may have tipped the scales toward borderline obsession. Seriously, she was such an inspiration! To be able to accomplish what she did during the time that she did was simply amazing and all in the name of fashion. I love anyone who's a bit of a rebel but certainly with a cause is better than not. No one compares to her.

Aside from the inspiration of this movie, it really got me to thinking about the essence of style. Chanel is known for its unmistakeably classic style and one of my favorite products is the handbags. The quilted version is one you can never go wrong with. This brown classic beauty with the signature chain link strap can be purchased at Portero.com on sale for $1499. I can say one thing for the brand...the pricing hasn't changed much over the years. It's a luxury item though right? Well worth it!

I love the look of this black Lambskin Hoop Chain hobo and I swear I had one just like it in the 80's. Well, maybe it wasn't just like it but the styling was definitely the same.

Such a classic beauty... both Coco and her designs. I'm not sure if everyone can appreciate style that transcends time but Chanel is a fabulous example. When I wear my double C sunglasses, I feel great and behind those lenses you better believe I am channeling Coco. A strong, stylish, independent woman who know EXACTLY what she wants.

Shecky's Girls night Out - Charlotte

Shecky's visited Charlotte, NC for the first time ever and of course, where's there's fashion there's also StyleMayvin. Thanks to the Shecky's NYC team for making sure I was well taken care of. Smooches!

And speaking of NYC, I attended quite a few Shecky's events when I lived there and always had a fabulous time. Although I know and realize that the two markets are so very different (SO Very!) however, I think I was expected to see a few well known brands selling at the event. Charlotteans love a good sample sale too and since I never get to experience that here, I was totally looking forward to it with Shecky's. But hey, don't get me wrong, on all other points the formula was the same. The gift bag was great and included products from Suave, Febreze, fcuk, softlips and more. I just love a good gift bag!

While visiting the many merchants and experiencing the products they had to offer, I was able to squeeze in a drink or two. Hey, it wouldn't be Girls Night Out without a little drinking and I LOVE the Shecky's knows that. For your $15 entry fee (regularly $30) to this event, attendees not only received a fancy gift bag chocked full of products but also, three drink tickets. I thoroughly enjoyed perusing through the Charlotte event photos and trying to figure out if some of the pictures were taken before or after a drink or two. Either way, looks like everyone had a blast.

I ran into a couple of stylish ladies who were checking out each other's purchases. One of which told me that she "found some really great merchandise" and had gone "way over her budget for the day" but when you're around so many great items, it's hard for a real shopper to restrain herself! With so many different merchants displaying their various products from clothing and jewelry to laser hair removal services and dermatology, it was certainly a night of all things "beauty".

And to make the deal even sweeter, I was finally able to meet a new friend who I've been chatting with on Twitter for sometime. Tami of Talking With Tami, came up from Atlanta to support one of her closest friends who happened to be one of the merchants. In this day of social media, it's great to meet the people who's lives you follow and converse with regularly but have physically never laid eyes on. I love when that happens!

2011 CFDA Awards

Last Monday the 12th Annual CFDA Awards took place and forgive me for just getting around to posting my blog about it, but hey... it's been a crazy week. Normally nothing can get in the way of Fashion for me but I guess my son's graduation from High School needed to take precedent.

With so many of fashion's greats as the nominees, I'm sure this years panel had an extremely hard time making decision. Thanks to Swarovski for making this event happen once again this year! Congratulations to Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler who won the honor of the Womenwear Designer of the Year. The Menswear Designer of the Year award went to Michael Bastian and Alexander Wang took home Accessory Designer of the Year. If you don't know these names...boy do you have some catching up to do!

As always, the red carpet was all a blaze with celebrities and fashion elite alike. Here are some of my favorite looks.

First up...Zac Posen and Sessilee Lopez. I loved this look on Zac!

Kerry Washington and Francisco Costa

Zuzanna Bijoch and Yigal Azrouel

Jessica Alba looks super cute showing off her baby bump.

A You Ready For Father's Day?

Check out a few great Father's Day Gift ideas from none other than me...StyleMayvin on FOX News.

StyleMayvin in Sunny Palm Springs

The all women's drive event, “Heels and Wheels” was held in sunny Palm Springs, California and of course, the StyleMayvin was there. I love, love, LOVE going on these drive events and with 11 different vehicles to drive and experience, it was definitely a busy week. From General motors to Chevrolet, Honda, Dodge and Saab, these manufacturers really rolled out the red carpet to make sure we all had a great time. Each vehicle had quite a few desired features and of course a number of very fashionable aspects so to say it was difficult to to narrow down my favorites would be an understatement. In order of my own personal preference, here are the best features of each.

GM Acadia Denali – GM is one of the global sales leaders and judging by all the bells and whistles of this truck, I can see why. My favorite feature? The Windshield Hologram. And with one touch of the key fob, I can open the rear lift gate with ease. This would come in particularly handy when I've got my hands full of shopping bags. I mean really...it's like having your own personal driver open the door. In fact, I liked this one soooo much, I decided to do a quick video with the GM representative. Check out the super stylish color of the truck while I'm chatting away with the rep.

Volvo C-70 – There's nothing better than riding around in a convertible...especially in Cali. The C-70's top goes down fully in 30 seconds. You could go from incognito to all out swagger while waiting a stop light. Wanna see me do it? Here ya go!

Chrysler Town & Country – Now I was never really the one to want a mini van but this one has truly changed my mind. Diva in a mini van? Oh yes! I can't even begin to list all of the many qualities but one of the most attractive feature to me, the best spot to place my LV bag! I love when the manufacturers think of things like this.

Then, there's the 3rd row seating that folds completely outward for tailgating. I'm thinking, this baby at the kids football or soccer game would make me the most popular Mom in attendance. It not only transports all of your kids or friends in style, you can also tailgate comfortably and in style!

Mitsubishi Outlander – I love Mitsu! They met me in Cabo San Lucas late last year with this vehicle and driving it never gets old. (see last year's coverage HERE) Plus the fold down rear seats allow so much more space to pack or transport all the fun stuff like skateboard ramps and surf boards. Hey, when in California...
Mazda 5 – This is for the driver who's looking for a transition from a car to an “almost” cross-over vehicle. The sliding doors are a great feature that allows easy access for all passengers and cargo...ie. Shopping Bags! Oh yeah!
KIA Optima Hybrid – There's so much that can be said about a Hybrid, but to say it has heated and cooled seats is really all I need to say, given the way the 90 degree temps have been beating down on the East coast. But I will also add that it's quite a stylish looking little car too! (see me with this car in the first photo above)
Dodge Journey – If you have kids and still want to look fly, this is a great choice. The design is sleek and it has built in fold out booster seats! Can't beat that!
Chevrolet Cruze – Looking to go Eco friendly? This compact car redefines “compact”. It's small but has an extremely spacious rear seat and it the interior design elements have raised the bar for many other competitors. Stay tuned for FULL coverage on this vehicle as I was fortunate enough to drive this one around for the week.

Other cars on the drive were the Honda Civic Hybrid, Saab 9-5 Sedan and Hyundai Tuscon.

During the real world testing on the final day of experiencing all the vehicles, we were able to see how our luggage, pets, child seats and of course...shopping bags would comfortably fit in each automobile. This was one of the highlights of the day because we were able to see how these vehicles perform in everyday settings. Overall, a very informative trip with 11 different cars to drive. I can't complain!

New from Miu Miu

Miu Miu is one of my favorite designers and these shoes are just beyond expectation! I love, love, LOVE them all! Here's a look at the newest collection courtesy of Full Frontal Fashion!

Couldn't you just die? I mean, I could see these with a skirt, with jeans, with a dress, with panties...Seriously, these shoes are super awesome and I would wear them every single day!

The gold and pink Camoscio shoe is my absolute favorite and I really need them in my life. I have an awesome dusty pink top they would go perfectly with! Then the basic black Panna Marina bicolore shoe is trendy, yet quite basic. This shoe could compliment any look.

Silver sparkles and lime green? That's just freaking ridiculous! These are beyond fashion forward but if you need to tone it down just a smidgen, go for the black and silver version

I simply cannot say how much I adore these shoes. Cheers Miu Miu!
